Passive voice

A sentence can be either in active or pasive. while in an 'active' sentence, the subject, the subject performs the action, in a 'passive' sentence, the subject receives the action.

a. passive voice in simple present tense

subject + is, am, are + V3 (+ by + the doer)

Example:

·         muslims are not punished for failing to perform these duties.

·         the salat is also known as the namaz in iran, india, and turkey

2	People make books from trees. (Orang membuat buku dari pohon.)	Books are made from trees. (Buku dibuat dari pohon.)
3	My parents treat me like a baby. (Orang tua memperlakukan saya seperti bayi.)	I am treated like a baby by my parents . (Saya diperlakukan seperti bayi oleh orang tua.)
4	You can use the photos for free. (Kamu bisa menggunakan goto-foto tersebut secara gratis.)	The photos can be used for free. (Foto-foto tersebut dapat digunakan secara gratis.)
5	He often sleeps on the right side of the bed. (Dia selalu tidur di sisi kanan tempat tidur.)	The right side of the bed is often slept on by him. (Sisi kanan tempat tidur sering ditiduri olehnya.)

b. passive voice in simple past

subject + was, were + V3 (+ by + the doer)

·         the mosque was swept by abdullah yesterday.

·         the books were released last year.

2	Someone left the letter when he was away from his desk. (Seseorang meninggalkan surat tersebut ketika dia jauh dari mejanya.)	The letter was left when he was away from his desk. (Surat tersebut ditinggalkan ketika dia jauhd ari mejanya.)
3	Tio ate sardines and rice for dinner. (Tio makan sardin dan nasi untuk makan malam.)	Sardines and rice were eaten for dinner by Tio. (Sardin dan nasi dimakan untuk makan malam oleh Tio.)
4	They just talked about mental health. (Mereka baru saja membicarakan tentang kesehatan mental.)	Mental health was just talked by them. (Kesehatan mental baru saja dibicarakan oleh mereka.)
5	Yesterday, my father stayed at the hotel. (Kemarin ayah saya tinggal di hotel tersebut.)	Yesterday, the hotel was stayed at by my father. (Kemarin hotel tersebut ditinggali oleh ayah saya.)

c. passive voice in simple future

Subject + will + be + V3 (+ by + the doer)

Example:

·         the window will be cleaned by zahra

2	They are going to invest a small amount of their money in the stock market. (Mereka akan menginvestasikan sedikit uang mereka di pasar saham.)	A small amount of their money is going to be invested in the stock market. (Sedikit uang mereka akan diinvestasikan di pasar saham.)
3	Dino will show you something interesting. (Dino akan menunjukkan padamu sesuatu yang menarik.)	You will be shown something interesting. (Kamu akan ditunjukkan sesuatu yang menarik.)
4	His assistant will prepare and edit your legal documents. (Asistennya akan mempersiapkan dan memperbaiki dokumen-dokumen hukummu.)	Your legal documents will be prepared and edited. (Dokumen-dokumen hukummu akan dipersiapkan dan diperbaiki.)
5	He is going to meet a new client tomorrow. (Dia akan bertemu seorang klien baru besok.)	A new client is going to be met tomorrow. (Seorang klien baru akan ditemui besok.)

Pilihlah jawaban yang benar dibawah ini, mana kalimat pasif present tense, simple past, simple future

Pembahasan:

Dari pertanyaan 'Apakah saya mendengar sesuatu?' clan dari Jawaban 'ya' memberi pengertian bahwa seseorang sedang mengetuk pintu. Peristiwa yang sedang berlangsung (pada waktu kini) dinyatakan dengan pola present continuous: S + is/are/am + V-ing.

2. ‘Have the boys had their breakfast?’ 'Not yet, they ....'

A. have taken a bath                   D. were taking a bath

B. are still taking a bath              E. would still take a bath

C. will take a bath

Pembahasan:

`Have the boy had their breakfast?T 'Not yet, they . . .'

'Apakah anak-anak sudah sarapan?'

JAWAB: not yet (belum) memberi pengertian bahwa kegiatan yang ditanyakan belum dilakukan oleh subject dengan kata lain mereka masih sedang mandi. Sedang (pada waktu kini) dinyatakan dalam pola Present Continuous: S + am/is/are + V-ing.

Bentuk            pasif

kalimat dapat berupa aktif atau pasif. sementara dalam kalimat 'aktif', subjek, subjek melakukan tindakan, dalam kalimat 'pasif', subjek menerima tindakan.

a. suara pasif dalam simple present tense
subjek + adalah, pagi, adalah + V3 (+ dengan + pelakunya)
contoh:
Muslim tidak dihukum karena gagal melaksanakan tugas tersebut.
Shalat yang juga dikenal sebagai shalat di iran, india, dan kalkun.
b. pasif di masa lalu yang sederhana
subjek + itu, yang + V3 (+ dengan + pelakunya)

contoh:
Masjid tersapu oleh abdullah kemarin.
Buku-buku yang dirilis tahun lalu.
c. pasif di masa depan sederhana
subjek + akan + menjadi + V3 (+ dengan + pelakunya)
contoh:
Jendela akan dibersihkan oleh zahra
